Indiana to study state’s code related to human trafficking and child solicitation – Evansville Courier & Press
Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller and Evansville-area legislators were at the Civic Center Wednesday to talk about…new consumer-protection legislation passed by the recently ended General Assembly. …Another bill highlighted by Zoeller during his visit, was one authored by Rep. Suzanne Crouch (R-Evansville) that created a summer study of human trafficking and child solicitation. It will examine if Indiana’s criminal penalty for child solicitation should be revised or if a new criminal offense of child trafficking should be added to state code. The study will also examine other sex crimes against children. Its results would be considered by the 2012 legislature.
“We are going to be looking at human trafficking and child solicitation as two very important issues that we as a state need to address,” Crouch said.
Crouch also said Wednesday the law would include protections for children against cybercrimes such as bullying from school computers and using technology to send explicit materials.
