IIECL staff member, Diane Mull, developed the task mapping and job risk / ergonomics methodology to create a simple and easily replicable method for monitoring the work activities of children and to identify those work tasks that are hazardous to a child’s health and safety. This methodology was applied to cocoa production in 15 rural cocoa growing communities in the Western Region in Ghana. The Government of Ghana has since used the results of this study to define hazardous child labor in cocoa production.
